Angel "Cachorro" Santiago stood out in his athletic career in Puerto Rico’s National Basketball Team (Baloncesto Superior Nacional – BSN, Spanish acronym) during the years 1973 through 1996, representing Puerto Rico in the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Manila, Philippines of 1978, and in the Pan American Games of 1979.

In 2011, Angel enrolled in the Universidad del Turabo, Caguas, Puerto Rico, where he began his basic studies, and then transferred to the Colegio Universitario de San Juan in 2012, continuing his studies in the field of health obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2016. In 2018, he began his Master's studies in the field of Mental Health and Psychiatry, graduating in 2020.

During his studies he worked at:  Hospital Municipal of San Juan (Centro Médico de Puerto Rico), Centro Recuperación a la Vida Independiente-Unidad de Salud Mental in Trujillo Alto, Grace Hospice of Puerto Rico as a Graduate Nurse with hospice patients in the terminal stage, and San Jorge Children's Hospital in the Mental Health and Psychiatry Unit.  In February 2022, he again became part of Grace Hospice of Puerto Rico, this time in the capacity of Community Education Liaison, until May 2023.

His experience as a Registered Nurse gave him the opportunity to see the great need for companionship and dignified treatment many patients lack. It is then that he decides to bet on his dream of creating the services that today are part of Vida Digna Care, Inc.
